Just breathe….and make the world a better place: The power of meditation.

Can 70,000 people from around the world meditating together make the world more peaceful? People from 150 different countries at the World Culture Festival in Berlin attempted to do just this.

The purpose of the event was to bring people from the world to celebrate both their diversity and their unity within a global community. Ravi Shankar, famous sitar player and leader of the meditation session, said, “It is also an opportunity for one to see that they are a global citizen and part of a global family. It is where each one can celebrate the diversity, shun the prejudice against race, religion and culture, and find deep inner peace in a dynamic atmosphere.”

Peace begins with us, with me, with you, and then peace will be in the whole world. Therefore, if we meditate, and we omit our intake of meat, then we’ll become more peaceful, we will radiate a kind of invisible, peaceful atmosphere around us, which affects everybody. And we do not talk about peace, peace will be. We don’t have to advocate peace, peace will be.

A few minutes of ‘nothing’ can transform your life forever

When meditation was first introduced to the western world in the early 20th century, there were a lot of skeptics. How can sitting down and doing nothing but breathing be of any use? The main reason was because the results and effects of meditation were not something people could see physically.

Later on, more scientific research was carried out on meditation. They studied the brain scans of monks who have mastered meditation for decades. Suddenly, people could see in ‘black and white’, just how much meditation can change the structure of your brain. It can completely rewire your brain and reverse some of the negative effects of stress and aging on the brain.

How is this possible? We breathe in and out 22,000 times a day. Focusing and improving each of those breaths can improve the oxygen supply to our brain. As a result, our brain tissue can be nourished better.

This is easier said than done, though. Sitting still and focusing only on your breathing is deceptively difficult, especially in a world where we are distracted every couple of minutes by notifications or texts.Meditation really is a skill, just like playing football or weightlifting. It is a workout for the mind and brain. It will require long hours of practice to fully master it.

Meditation is not just doing ‘nothing’. It’s time for you to treasure. We’ve worked all day, busily taking care of the world and others. So whenever we meditate, that’s a time for us. We must love ourselves first- love others but also love ourselves. It’s very good for you.

How does it benefit others?

So, how can meditation, literally bring world peace? Well, the chaos in our modern world is caused by how impatient, distracted and irritable we have become. When we make a mistake through impatience, we want to blame others and create conflict. Meditation can cut these problems right at the root; before it bubbles up to the surface in anger and frustration. A calmer and more patient mind will always make better decisions than one that doesn’t.

Because really meditation is your shield. That’s when you’re connected more with your own greater power and the universal force that upholds you, holds you tight and protects you, embraces you with all love and blessing and protection. Truly like that. There’s no other power that can protect you in this world. That’s the secret. That is the secret of the universe that not many people understand or have the privileges to know, but sometimes people take it for granted and they have trouble and they have sickness and all that, and they go out and have medicine and then thank the doctor. It’s fine if you’re not spiritually strong enough and the karma overwhelms you, then you have to go to the doctor. But we have the cure within. And we can always be healthy and strong to help ourselves and to shoulder the world, until people are more awakened.

Take a deep breath and as you breathe out, breathe in peace, live in peace. intent on raising the vibration. Allow yourself to feel peace, create peace, world peace. Take a deep breath, and go ahead and allow that bubble that represents the world, go ahead and drop its grounding cord and allow that bubble to float off to the universe, float off to God, float off to source, to pure love. To amplify that healing, to let the universe and all the universes knowingness take your intention of world peace and make it happen.
